CELEBRATION OF SAINT PARASKEVA - PETKA 2013.

On Sunday, October 27th, we celebrated our patron Venerable Paraskeva - Petka. Day made for joy and celebration, attracted many people to the Divine Liturgy. His Grace, Bishop Mitrophan officiated the Liturgy, His concelebrants were Fr. Nicholas Regos , Romanian priest, and our priest Fr. Ljubisa. The Divine Liturgy was held in the courtyard of the church. At the end of Liturgy, we walked in the procession around the new church, and afterwards we had breaking of the Slava bread. Hosts of the celebrations for this year were family of Stevan and Mladenka Mitrovic, who honored the next year's celebration family of Slavisa and Dejana Kojic.
In addition, in the eve of the holiday, in the church, after the evening service and blessing of Five Loaves, we had lecture on "Holy Emperor Constantine the Great and the Edict of Milan". On this occasion, we celebrated 1700 years since the signing of this document, which gave the desired freedom to Christians, many of whom are still struggling to get it. Fr. Ljubisa made a historical introduction to the subject, while the Bishop Mitrophan conveyed to experience on the celebration of this great event in Nis and Podgorica.

SERBFEST 2013.

The Eight Serbian Festival, which was held from October 11th to 13th of this year gave us un opportunity to host the largest number of visitors so far. Estimates are that in the course of the Festival we had about four thousand visitors, which has greatly exceeded the number from last year. This Festival has definitely become one of the largest event of its kind in our area.
The Festival program included folklore group performances by Serbian Crown of St. Petka Church, Serbian Pearl of St. Sava Church of St. Petersburg, Balkan of St. Symeon the Myrrgusher of Miami, Djurdjevak of St. George Church in Clearwater, Hellenic Dance Troupe of Greek Orthodox Church in Maitland, and the Bulgarian Academy of Dance and rhytmic gymnastics. Apart from hem, the program was led by Guitar Trio Tiho, Erik and Georgi, and the Duo Nenad Todorovic and Miodrag Raskovic.
With great hospitality and quality and tasty food, drinks and sweets, which were prepared by valuable hands of our parishioners, we stayed until late in the night all three days.
On this occasion, we would like to thank all the volunteers, all the donors and sponsors of this year's Festival, with the hope of even better and more succesful gatherings in the future. Without the joint efforts and hard work, none of this would be possible.
